Huissen has grown considerably in recent decades. The Zilverkamp and Huissen-Zand are typical 1970s–80s districts with terraced and semi-detached homes on a sand-cement screed — the ideal floor to mill into, with 16 mm pipe at 100 mm centres as full primary heating and not a centimetre of height lost. Around the old centre and the Vicarie there are older buildings, sometimes with wooden floors; there we fit Fermacell or Knauf boards and mill into those.

In newer districts such as Loovelden and in the new builds of Bemmel and Elst we see anhydrite floors and concrete apartment floors. We mill into those too, with blades matched to the material. In new builds where the screed is still to come, we lay the pipe before pouring: stapled onto the insulation, tied onto mesh or on studded boards.
